Green tea good for health is it a hype


Biologically tea is a beverage formed by brewing dried
leaves of the plant camellia sinesis.The fully oxidized form of
this is BLACK TEA and PU-ERH TEA and by partially
oxidized it form OOLONG TEA and non-oxidized form is the
most popular GREEN TEA and WHITE TEA.
Green tea popular beverage made from the leaves &
buds of Camellia sinensis var. sinensis and Camellia
sinensis var. assamica plant .They are mainly originated from
china it is an aromatic beverage with a colour of greenish
yellow and has a cooling slightly bitter and astringent flavor.
When go to the composition of the green tea it is noted
that 99.9%of it is water and is a rich source of antioxidant
molecules catechins. The polyphenols catechins present in it
is epigallo catechin gallate(EGCG).The green tea contains
mainly 3 kinds of flavonoids knowns as kaempferol, quercetin,
and myricetin. The Caffeine in it appears to act synergistically
with EGCG to assist metabolism. Not only this the green tea
contains amino acids L -theanine which is able to cross the
blood- brain barrier and also contains minerals and bioactive
compounds useful for a healthy human body.
When we go through the nutritional value of green tea it
contains various vitamins such as A,D,E,C,B,B5,H&K and is a
rich source of manganese and contains other beneficial
minerals like zinc, chromium, selenium and good source of
antioxidants and alkaloids. The EGCG present in it is many
times more powerful antioxidant than vitamin E and C.

BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA:
 Researchers believe that high levels of polyphenols in
green tea helps in damaging cancerous cells and
thereby stops them growing. But there is no conclusive
evidence that green tea helps to prevent cancer cells
that mean polyphenols present in green tea leaves
effects like reducing inflammation and catechin present
in it helps to prevent cell damage that may intern help in
fighting cancer.
 Theanine and amino acid present in it helps to increase
brain dopamine serotonin levels.
 In 2003, university of Birmingham study explains that
ingestion of green tea extract can not only increase fat
oxidization during moderately intensive exercise but
also improves insulin sensitivity glucose tolerance in
healthy man.
 Studies proved that green tea helps to clean bacteria’s
which harm the tooth and thereby improves the dental
health.
 The catechins present in it helps in inhibiting intestinal
lipase, reduces fat absorption, increase fat excretion,
increase thermogenesis, increase uncoupling proteins,
decrease lipogenic enzymes and helps to suppressing
appetite.
 Caffeine in amounts equivalent to those found in green
tea extracts (50mg) had no effect on energy expenditure
fat oxidization.
 Green tea may help to lower the LDL cholesterol and
lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

DEMERITS OF GREEN TEA:
 In some people green tea can cause stomach upset and
constipation
 The side effects can range from mild to serious and
include headache, nervousness, sleep problem,
vomiting, diarrhea, irritability, irregular heartbeat,
tremor, heart burn, and dizziness, ringing around ear,
convulsions and confusions.
 Green tea extracts can be report to cause liver and
kidney problems in rare cases.
 It can cause side effects because of the caffeine and
consuming it in empty stomach.
 In some people green tea hurt their body’s ability to
absorb iron
 Green tea is not much advisable for pregnant ladies.

HOW MUCH GREEN TEA PER DAY:
According to the University of Maryland medical Centre
it is safe to drink 2 to 3 cups of green tea per day .Because
the high aluminum and lead content in green tea can lead to
health conditions like low hemoglobin, and so 3 cups is fine.
More than it is unsafe .stay off if you are anemic and you are
on an any medications or undergoing chemotherapy ask
your doctor before taking green tea
The green tea even through have so many a positive effects
to boost the metabolism.it is not enough for one to complete
health. Unless people complement it with physical activity
and proper diet.

However, every little bit adds up and it may work even
better when combined with other effective weight loss
strategies like eating more protein and cutting carbs. Of
course... let's not forget that green tea goes way beyond just
body weight. It is also extremely healthy for various other
reasons.
