BEWARE OF FOOD.

 

Food, to a large extent, defines our life. It determines our mood, behavior, and directs us towards specific actions. . Eating a variety of foods
promotes good health and can help reduce the risk of disease.

Substances that have good taste and odour, have an attractive appearance, which when consumed in an appropriate manner and quantity
get digested and absorbed into the body, can replenish the wear and tear of muscles, generate new nutrients and energy required by the body, can
give a feeling of contentment and Bliss to the mind, are known as Food’.

To possess a healthy body, food is of utmost importance. The human body requires energy to perform all activities. Food is the source of the
energy required for all essential life-sustaining activities such as walking,talking, breathing, digestion, functioning of the heart, thought processes,
etc.
There is a saying in Tamil that , “The person who eats once a day is a YOGI, one who eats twice a day is a BHOGI ; three times a day is a
ROGI ; four times is a gone case”. He will be afflicted with diseases who eats immoderately in ignorance of the rules of health .No medicine is
needed for him who eats after well knowing that what he has already eaten has been digested.

One of the best ways to maintain your health is by taking care of yourself. If you want to live a healthy life then change your eating pattern
because even the simplest little healthy modification can cause great benefit


Benefits of eating healthy food:

 We get a strong and healthy body with a healthy mind as well by
eating healthy food. Healthy food keeps fit and active.
 Healthy food is full of various nutrients. These nutrients provide us
energy and alertness. Hence, we stay active.
 It protects you from various diseases, including chronic diseases like
diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. by eating healthy
food
 Healthy food also saves us from obesity as it helps in managing
unnecessary weight gain.
 Healthy food strengthens our immune system, and digestion. For
example, fiber rich food keeps us digestion smooth and vitamin C
improves our immunity.
 Healthy food also gives us a fit and fine body, glowing skin and
overall, an attractive body.
 It lifts your mood and makes you feel good.
Due to a hectic lifestyle and a busy schedule, a most of us depend
upon foods from outdoor caterings, packaged and canned foods or fast
foods. These are all unhealthy options as they are high in fats and
sodium. Sodium and fats are the known causes of various lifestyles
diseases like high cholesterol, heart failure, hypertension, and stroke.
Take Care in intake
 Never skip your breakfast as it is the brain food which will help to be
healthy throughout the day. For a healthy breakfast use cereals,
pulses or low fat non- veg proteins.
 Include the five food groups in your diet, like vegetables and
legumes/beans, fruit, lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, nuts
and seeds, legumes/beans , grain (cereal) foods, mostly wholegrain
and/or high cereal fiber varieties, milk, yoghurt, cheese and/or
alternatives, mostly reduced fat.
 Always try to have healthy fruit or brunch or a healthy soup etc.
 Have your lunch in time with lots of veggies & low fat protein foods,
along with fiber.

 Have a healthy snack like egg white, boiled pulses, sprouted grams
etc as a snack for your tea.
 Have your dinner before 8 o’clock with low fat foods.
 Never forget to take a fruit or a cup of low-fat milk as a post dinner.
 Avoid junk foods and soft drinks as these cause you to feel bloated
and cause acidity.
 Add fiber rich foods like oats and fresh fruits and vegetables to your
diet for a healthy heart and easy digestion. Includes cereals in your
breakfast to get a complete dose of fiber in your diet.
 Avoid sodium and do not sprinkle extra salts on foods. High intake of
salts leads to high blood pressure which is one of the main causes of
coronary diseases and stroke. Instead of salt, sprinkle herbs on foods
and salads.
 Cut down on fatty and high calories foods.
 Always keep an eye on the portion size.
 Don’t forget to hydrate your body.
A balanced diet is a key to healthy lifestyle.
A balanced diet should contain all right foods in right quantities like
carbohydrates, high fiber content, water, proteins, fats, vitamins and
minerals. A balanced diet is not all about eating the right foods, but having
them at correct time in right proportions.

 A healthy food is important because our organs and tissues needs
proper nutrition to work efficiently. Without healthy food & good
nutrition our body is more prone to diseases.
 Healthy foods include. Fat-free and low-fat dairy products, such as
low-fat yoghurt, cheese, and milk. Protein foods, such as lean meat,
fish, poultry without skin, beans, and peas. Whole-grain foods, such
as whole-wheat bread, oatmeal, and brown rice. Other grain foods
include pasta, cereal, bagels, bread, tortillas, couscous, and crackers.
Fresh fruits, canned, frozen, or dried. Fresh vegetables, canned
(without salt), frozen or dried.

 A healthy food makes the body active and strong. It also helps in
brain functioning.
Un-healthy foods will make a body lazy, depressed and cause
diseases.
 . Healthy eating habits are one of the vital parts in achieving good
health. We should always try to take a balanced diet that contains the
correct proportions of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins,
minerals, and water

Note the point

 Prefer homemade foods against fast food.
 Avoid junk foods as they are a major cause of obesity.
 Eat raw fruits and vegetables whenever possible. It is even preferable
to have fruits and raw vegetables instead of munching on snacks.
 Limit consumption of sugar and unhealthy processed foods.
 Keep your salt intake to less than 5 grams per day as it helps to
prevent hypertension, and reduces the risk of heart disease. Prefer
iodized salt.
 Avoid trans fats that are found in processed food, fast food, snacks,
fried food, frozen pizza and cookies.
 Always take small portions of high calorie foods and large portions of
healthy foods like vegetables, salads and soups.
 Eat fruits and vegetables with skins after washing them thoroughly .
 Hydrate your body

importance of good health.
The proverb “ we are what we take in the form of food”. Reminds us
the importance of food for good health.
So Always remember one thing Food has the power to give life and
also it is the one which took health & finally life.  So Beware of food.
